Born in Germany, family moved to South Africa in 2005, moved to Panama in 2011, moved back to Germany in 2012, moved to the US in February 2018. I'm bilingual (German and English) with a tiny amount of Spanish and Japanese understanding (not confident in speaking it though).
Got first dog in 2005, kept dogs in every country I've lived in since then. Also former rat owner (although I want more eventually). Used to have rabbits, but don't plan on getting any more. Hoping to own pigeons sometime soon.
Interested in living and extinct animals, evolution, inheritance, behavior, bio-mechanics, ecosystems. Not interested in molecular genetics, metabolism, or health in general.

Interested in veganism for ethical reasons (my main concerns being factory farming and the scam of "organic farming"), though I will never be fully vegan for the following reasons:
1. I couldn't care less about the welfare of bees and silk worms. Insects (and some other animals) are literally unable to feel pain. If you have ever seen an insect rip off its own limbs when it got stuck somewhere, this should be obvious.
2. I consider sustainable hunting and fishing to be ethical.
3. I consider any homestead that treats its animals humanely to be ethical. By "humanely" I mean "causes no unnecessary suffering". That means products from animals that live in large enclosures, with all the necessary mental stimulation to keep them happy, are perfectly acceptable. That includes eggs AND MEAT. Impregnating a cow or goat every single year does cause unnecessary suffering, so all dairy is considered unethical to me. I do not have access to any homestead products anyway, so my alternative is a vegan-like diet.
4. No, I would not consider eating dog meat to be unethical IF the dog was treated humanely beforehand. In real life however, dogs in the meat trade are treated no better than most pigs in the meat trade.
